From the very beginning, it was clear that Liverpool was the dominant force in this match. Klopp’s team captured the ball mostly to themselves & snatched victory from the hosting club. But Sheffield with their newly appointed manager Chris Wilder tried their best till the end to take dominance of the match but in front of Liverpool’s highly coordinated attack plans their tactics became useless

From the beginning of the match, Liverpool dominated the match with 74% of ball possession; in contrast, Sheffield had only 24%. They bewildered the opponent with a continuous wave of attack. Liverpool shot 18 times on target while Sheffield had only 2.

The star of the match Van Djik didn’t miss this golden opportunity & rose above the Sheffield defense & gave the ball a powerful header making the first goal. After the first breakthrough Liverpool didn’t stop looking for another one. It was in the 68th minute that Dominik Szoboszlai scored the goal that repaid their efforts. Dominik was constantly threatening Sheffield’s defense with a very aggressive style from the very beginning. Dominik just picked up the ball just outside the box & without losing any time shot a powerful strike to the top corner leaving Wes Foderingham helpless.

Klopp was very subtle with his managerial decisions. Klopp tried to use his players accordingly to bring out the best in them & grant them the prestigious 2nd position in the table. The decision of Klopp introducing Curtis Jones & Ryan Gravenberch gave Liverpool the upper hand in the midfield.

Virgil van Dijk showed an outstanding performance during the whole game. He gave the team a first boost with an opening goal by proper use of the corner. Throughout the whole game, the captain showed some key interventions which kept the team’s morale high.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is well known for his ability of excellent passes & corners but during the first half his passes weren’t that accurate and his playing wasn’t quite his standard playing style in the 37th minute Alexandar picked up the corner & assisted Van Dijk with the opening goal.

Dominik Szoboszlai delivered the final nail in the coffin of Sheffield. This season is going pretty smoothly for this captain of the national Hungarian team. Dominik was at the peak of his performance during the whole game. He did excellent footwork & ultimately got his reward in the 68th minute where he took the best output he could make out of chance. Dominik got the ball just outside the box & from that place Dominik gifted a worthwhile goal.

The International star of France Ibrahim Konate showed an outstanding effort in building a solid defense in the back. This 24-year-old defender tried his best to keep the attacks of Sheffield out of the goalpost of Liverpool. Unfortunately, in the middle of the game, he made a foul and was booked for the second half of the game.

Despite being on the losing side Sheffield never stopped trying to equalize the match and came close to scoring a goal. Cameron Archer tried his best to take the chance but the ball couldn’t get past Alisson Becker.

After scoring 2 goals & getting control of the game Liverpool kept their defense resolute & tried to keep the game in their hand & ultimately tasted the sweetness of victory. When the final whistle blew the Reds were celebrating an astounding 2-0 victory. Their strategic playing with their suffocating dominance again showed the football world capabilities of Liverpool.
